Lansdown Grove Hotel Bath - 3 stars

The Lansdown Grove Hotel is reputed to be the oldest still-functioning hotel in Bath (it opened for business in 1888). It is dripping in Georgian splendour and is centrally located with impressive levels of service.

Just round the corner from the famous Royal Crescent, The Landsdown Grove is close to most of Bath's attractions, from the Roman Baths, to the various museums and upmarket shopping districts.

Georgian high-ceilings give the rooms at the hotel a serene sense of space while ornate plasterwork and luxury furnishings add to the genteel feel. Recommended is the four-poster suite for those after that bit extra in authentic period charm.

A high ceiling is also a major feature of the Conservatory restaurant, where an excellent standard of international cuisine is served up by talented chefs. The Landsdown Grove also has a well-stocked bar.
