The Pump Room, situated in the heart of the World Heritage Site, is without doubt one of the most elegant and stylish buildings in the country. It was built as the focal point of Georgian society - the place where people from all over the world would come to take the waters and enjoy convivial company. It is still the social heart of the city offering a spectacular venue for receptions and conference dinners.

It is hard to imagine a more magical setting for a drinks reception than the torch-lit Roman Baths with its steaming waters and Roman artefacts. The elegant Pump Room or more intimate Terrace both create a truly memorable atmosphere in which guests can enjoy the fantastic food prepared by our in-house caterers. Their exemplary service and attention to detail are a fitting complement to this magnificent venue. For smaller meetings of up to 50 people the Kingston Room and Drawing Room, both of which overlook the Abbey, are also available to hire.

The Pump Room and Roman Baths have excellent transport links, being five minutes walk from Bath Spa railway station which has direct links to London, Bristol, the South Coast and the West Country. Avon Street Car Park is nearby and all three Park and Ride services are within 5/10 minutes walk.

The Pump Room was built in 1795 by Thomas Baldwin and John Palmer as the focal point of Georgian society, the Pump Room is still the social heart of the city and spa water still flows from the fountain overlooking the natural hot spring.

When the last day visitor leaves the Roman Baths and as darkness falls, the ruins of this vast Roman building are an awesome sight. By the light of flickering torches, your guests can walk on 2000 year old pavements as they drink in the atmosphere over a glass of champagne. This is a magical place for an evening they will never forget.

The Terrace is 20 feet above Roman level. The Victorians built a viewing terrace on all four sides of their prime discovery, the Great Bath. The northern range of this Terrace is now fully enclosed and is available to hire in the evening.

The Kingston Room offers views of Bath Abbey and Kingston Parade, with a connecting door to the Roman Baths terrace. It is one of only two rooms in the Roman Baths and Pump Room complex that are available for hire during the day. It is also licensed for civil weddings and it can seat up to 40 people.

The twin room to the Kingston Room, the Drawing Room, is on the east side of the Pump Room and Roman Baths complex, with views of Bath Abbey. It is one of only two rooms that are available for hire during the day.

The Reception Hall was built in 1895 as a concert room and is now used as the main visitor entrance to the Roman Baths. It is therefore in public use every day until at least 18.00 and is unavailable in July and August. It is a good venue for a disco when having dinner on the Terrace, or for extra tables if the Pump Room proves to be too small for your needs. The room has recently been refurbished.
